Philippians 1:20...It is my hope that Christ will be honored in my body, whether by life or by death. vs 21 For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.

I love that Paul loves Jesus so much that on one hand, he wants to be with Jesus in glory...yet on the other hand Paul wants to strengthen the church in Philippi. I think it is safe to say that Paul's all-consuming passion was KNOWING Jesus! He didn't love the world so much, that He never thought about heaven, he didn't care about living it up here on earth, his purpose was to advance the kingdom of God! So that whether He was alive, or dead, He wanted Jesus to be honored above all!

What sounds like a crazy paradox, is actually a beautiful challenge to us as followers of Jesus, that we would cast this world and the love of the world aside, and pursue the kingdom of God whole heartedly; While at the SAME time allowing the pain and suffering and hurt of this world, to cause a YEARNING IN OUR SOUL to be with Jesus!
